Lughnasadh Blessings to you all!
I would like to apologize to those of you who were waiting for my next article about the magic of gardening. I am in the midst of a family crisis. My father was diagnosed with lung cancer about 10 months ago and has now taken a turn for the worst. The cancer has spread rapidly to and throughout his brain and, while he still has his mental functioning intact, my family and I are helping him with all of the matters that come at the end of a parent’s life. There are more than just medical and legal issues with which to deal. There are also the matters of heart, spirit and mind. It is a very difficult road on which to walk with him for so many reasons that I will not talk about right now. So, needless to say, my writing has fallen lower on the priority list these days.
I will return here as soon as I am able to do so. I am keeping notes of ideas as they pop into my head and, in just three weeks, I begin my training to become a Master Gardener. I cannot wait to apply the knowledge I gain from the program to my magical gardening and my writing and to share it with all of you.
Revel in this first harvest of the year, in bringing those bundles of herbs and ripe vegetables into your kitchen, and in the gorgeous blooms of late Summer. Meditate on the things you must release and the things you must plant to bring abundance to your life. Break bread with your family and friends and thank the Goddess and God for the blessings you have. May you all have a blessed Lughnasadh! I will “see” you all soon!
